Neutral

Neutral, or the Material Plane, was the primary non-aligned plane in the Standard Model of Planes. Not much is known about Neutral before its destruction. Its demise came when attempts by Ultima to "tame" its nature during colonization ended in disaster. After its destruction, in a deranged attempt at repentance, The Fallen turned his gaze towards the Chaos Planes. Volition was chosen to be a suitable replacement, and with their methods more refined, Ultima, under the leadership of The Fallen, was able to partially shift the nature of Volition to more closely resemble what Neutral had been. Hubris restored after what was seen as a complete success (despite the still ongoing war with the Ascendancy), Calamity was targeted next for taming, which ultimately led to disaster, ending Ultima's campaign due to a severed leyline into Limbo. Without their main link connecting Ultima to the rest of the multiplane, large scale travel that was needed for their campaign was impossible. The Fallen, a good number of his army, and his close comrades were doomed to be abandoned in Calamity.
